It’s not long until the forum, below is some important information to help make your forum experience great.

Getting there

Bornhoffen PCYC Leadership Development Centre, 3510 Nerang Murwillumbah Rd, Natural Bridge QLD 4211. Natural Bridge is about 50 minutes drive from Coolangatta Airport in the Gold Coast hinterland. You can access the forum via car, or the shuttle bus from the airport if you indicated your interest upon registration.

8.00am – 11.00am

On arrival, please report to the signposted registration desk near the Bornhoffen Office. We ask that you do not arrive prior to 3.00pm Thursday as we are running pre-forum workshops and preparing for the forum, and please advise us if you think you will be arriving outside of these times.

Clothing and items to bring 

Dress and prepare for the cool winter hinterland weather. This means don’t forget to pack:

  • Warm clothes
  • Rain jacket for potential precipitation
  • Sturdy/closed shoes
  • Torch (or headtorch) to help you navigate the property
  • Sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase and fitted sheet
  • Tent, mat and sleeping bag if you are camping
  • Towel and toiletries
  • Reusable cup to minimise waste


Upon registration you would have elected to stay in a dormitory, camp, or find your own accommodation (suggestions in the FAQ’s).


If you are in a dormitory, the only thing supplied is the mattress. This means you will need to bring your own fitted sheet, pillowcase, pillow, warm sleeping bag and towel/toiletries for showering.


If you are camping you will need to bring your own tent, warm sleeping bag, bedding, torch and towel/toiletries for showering. The designated camping area is flat, and we ask that you please be mindful of the size of your tent or consider sharing, and  to be mindful of any overhanging trees on the perimeter when choosing your spot.

Please note, vehicles cannot enter the campground, you will need to park in the Bornhoffen carpark or the carparking area next door to the forum and walk your tent and gear over the campground. If you have a campervan or trailer, you will not be able to bring it into the campground, rather, you will need to remain in the carpark.

Please be mindful that this is generally not a campsite and has been allocated by special arrangement with Bornhoffen. To repay their kindness, please keep the area clean and ensure you take all tent pegs home with you, as abandoned tent pegs can become missiles when run over by a lawn mower after the forum. A port-a-loo will be in the camping area and we ask that you use this for any midnight toilet trips as it is not a bush camping experience.

Don’t be fooled – it can get cold in the Gold Coast hinterland during winter so plan appropriately! Remember to bring enclosed footwear, raincoat and torch in addition to the suggestions.


There are shower blocks and toilets, and if you are camping, a handy portable toilet block near the campsite for those night time trips. Please be mindful of others and keep your showers short. Remember you will need to bring your own toiletries and towels etc.

Noise Policy

As there is nearby accommodation and we also need to be fresh for jam packed days, quiet time is from 10.30pm and we ask that this be respected.

Bar & Catering

The forum is catered with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and morning/afternoon tea. There will be a limited bar to purchase beer and wine beverages to enjoy with dinner, and as a consequence as we have a temporary liquor licence, strictly NO BYO. We intend to have credit card facilities for the bar however due to inconsistent wifi this could be challenging so best come prepared with cash. Even though our intention is to have some credit card facilities we cannot guarantee the WIFI.

AABAT Shuttle Bus

Coolangatta Airport to Bornhoffen PCYC – Thursday 8 August

  • 4.00pm (northern end of domestic terminal – dedicated bus pick up area)
  • 5.00pm (outside domestic terminal – public pick-up zone)

Bornhoffen PCYC to Coolangatta Airport – Sunday 11 August

  • 12.00pm
  • 2.00pm

If you booked the shuttle bus, please be prompt be prepared with $15 CASH as we cannot guarantee credit card facilities ($30 if returning Sunday). The return journey will leave Bornhoffen at 12 noon, and another at 2.00pm. If you have not booked, please contact Kelly at ">, there may be a few spots available.

There will be a $15 contribution each way required to help with costs for the shuttle bus each way on the day. Please come prepared with cash as we cannot guarantee the reliability of credit card facilities/WIFI.


If you want to try and share a ride, visit the Facebook carpool group to coordinate this with other forum-goers. AABAT is not coordinating individual rides, you will need to coordinate this amongst yourselves using this platform – https://www.facebook.com/groups/313073259556633/

Internet and Phone Service

Bornhoffen PCYC is situated is situated on over 200 acres in a rural setting, and personal internet and mobile phone service can sometimes be ‘weak’. In the spirit of connecting with each other, we ask that you enjoy the moment and treat this as an outdoor experience and understand these services may not be readily available. There is an office phone however be aware it may not be consistently staffed as such: 07 5533 6154. Feel free to leave this number with your family in case they need to try to get in touch to convey an important message.

Lend a Hand!

Remember at gatherings when the real party happened in the kitchen? Volunteering is always a great way to make new connections and friends. Feel free to make yourself known to the people who will make magic happen in the kitchen and feed us on the weekend, they will always be welcoming of someone to help bring out meals, wipe dishes, or restock supplies (or make them a cuppa as they toil away!). Adventure Therapy is a practice of inclusion, supporting each other and getting stuck into it. AABAT tries to create this feel at the forums, so feel free to lend a hand wherever you think a hand might be needed.
